The DENTSPLY Award

 Would you like to represent your dental school at the BDA/Dentsply Student Clinician Programme?

 **You could win a trip to Honolulu or a cash prize of £500!

The 32nd annual BDA/Dentsply Student Clinician Programme will be taking place at the British Dental Association. Each of the individual school winners can look forward to the following:

*      Two nights accommodation at the centrally located 4* London hotel for you and a friend.

*      Two exclusive invitations to the black tie BDA/Dentsply Annual Dinner to be held at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel, London.

*      £250 spending money.

A national winner will be selected following the adjudication. He or she will be invited to present their project on a non-competitive basis at the 150th Annual Session of the American Dental Association from 1 to 5 October 2009, during an all expenses paid trip to Honolulu, Hawaii as an honoured guest of Dentsply international.

The runner up will receive a cash prize of £500.

An additional prize of a specially commissioned plaque is also awarded for professionalism and presentation skills.

The Student Clinician Programme recognises excellence in undergraduate dental studies and includes work undertaken during intercalated degrees. It gives you the opportunity to present your work to three distinguished adjudicators and meet leading figures from the dental profession.

STAGE ONE:

The first stage of the competition usually takes the form of an internal competition held within each school*. A school winner is then chosen by the BDA/Dentsply Student Clinician Programme Representative and put forward to represent his or her school at the national adjudication. Dr Allaker is the representative for Barts and The London Dental School.

* If a local competition cannot be held, the BDA/Dentsply Student Clinician Representative can nominate a student who has excelled through high marks or merit.

STAGE TWO:

The national adjudication will take place on in February of the competition year.

The adjudication panel will consist of a number of high ranked individuals chosen from Dental schools.

Each entrant and a guest are invited to the annual BDA/Dentsply Dinner, where the overall national winner will be announced.
