DentSoc Elections
Dear All,
Barts and The London Dental Society was
set up one year after foundation of our dental school.
Since that time this society has been governed by
dental students. Our society is progressing fast and
responsibilities of committee members are becoming much more
important as the actions of committee can affect dental student's
university life directly.
There are 20 positions available in the Barts
Dental Society and only a dental student can stand for any of these
positions.
Approximately 12 DentSoc and 12
SSLC meetings are
held each year to which all committee members are expected to
attend. Senior members of committee are expected to attend more
meetings as will be specified by the Dental President. All elected
members are responsible to fulfil their duties and hence not to put
any extra pressure on other members within the committee.
Once the new committee is formed there will be
training from previous committee members which will give you the
opportunity to attain in depth information in regards to what duties
you are expected to fulfil.
This information pack
is intended to outline a brief
description of each role and explain the election procedure.
Please note that the role descriptions are a
general guidance and may change from year to year.
Please read all the
rules of the elections carefully; we want to encourage you to get as
many students to vote for you - but only within the boundaries of
the election regulations.
After the close of nominations and
before the opening of campaigning, there will be Dental
Hustings
that will take place on 2nd of June 2010 and you are expected to attend this meeting where you will
be asked to give a short speech about yourself and what makes you
the best candidate for the job. You must attend this meeting unless
you have a valid reason not to; in this case you should contact one
of the elections officers and give your apologies. If you can
not attend to Dental Hustings
you may send a representative to read
your speech for you.
Good Luck!
Dental Society Committee
