Our school was opened in 1911- It is one of the oldest dental schools in the UK.
As a dental school we have developed over the past 100 years and are always in the process of continual improvement.
The student dental society was formed in 1912.
Every dental student is a member of the society which is run by a committee of 22 members, each assigned to fulfil a particular duty. The committee is elected by dental students each year and holds two meetings of DENTSOC and SSLC each month.
Our objectives:
- To be a bridge between dental students and staff at the dental school.
- To consider new ideas and maintain a continuous state of evolving and improving.
- Maintain professionalism within the society.
During your five years of study you will learn the finest techniques in dentistry which will equip you to become the best possible kind of dentist!
Heyy dentists!!
Margaret is my name and writing is my game! Actually dentistry is…but I am running for the position of General Secretary of DentSoc! For those who don’t know me, I am hardworking, committed and stupidly organised –3 key skills that a General Secretary must have in order to perform successfully.
As a Group Rep for the second year running, I have already gained so much experience that would prove useful towards DentSoc, such as working efficiently, handling any problems thrown at me and most importantly: communicating with staff and students. Having taken up the role of Student Organiser in PASS for Dentistry over the past year, my life has revolved around co-ordination and organisation so I am perfect to be the next General Secretary! I’ve also been involved with SAMDA charity work and participated in BLAS and so I have maintained a professional balance between study, socialising and other commitments – meaning that I am more than capable in managing this role.
As it is a Senior Position in DentSoc I am running for, it is my biggest commitment yet and so I plan to take the bull by the horns and jump straight into it! I want to make sure DentSoc’s admin runs smoothly so that DentSoc runs smoothly FOR YOU. I promise to do my absolute best to:
- Attend all meetings - punctually and prepared
- Compose and present all agendas and minutes efficiently
- Follow up any necessary errands with initiative
- Work my hardest to live up to the previous General Secretary and go beyond!
